Cricket word game and quiz for Android

Swipe cricket words. Fill the stands.

A wheel of letters, a crossword grid, and nothing but cricket in it. Spell yorker, googly and sledge, then a player round asks you to name cricketers from India, Pakistan, England and beyond. Every level you clear puts another Nuffy in the stands.

Free. No ads, nothing to buy. Plays offline.

A player round at level 4: the grid shows WASIM and SHAMI, with the letters S, A, I, M, H, W and T on the wheel below.
The Nets ground with 14 of 20 blocks of the stands lit, Nuffies on the outfield, a 9-day streak, and buttons for Nuffy Quiz, the daily puzzle and level 15.

How a level works

Every grid is cricket, start to finish

Each level gives you three to eight words to find. Drag across the letters on the wheel and, if the word fits, it drops into the grid. No clock is running and you can't lose a life, so take your time over the long ones.

  • Player rounds. Every fourth level, every word in the grid is a cricketer's name. The banner tells you before you start, so you're not hunting for "snick" in a grid of surnames.
  • Hints when you're stuck. Your first hint is free. After that, spend Runs to reveal a letter, Snick a tile you pick, or call Hawk-Eye for a whole word.
  • Shuffle for free. Spin the wheel as often as you like. Sometimes the word is obvious once the letters move.
Level 4, a player round. The banner reads: Every word is a cricketer's name. WASIM runs across the grid and SHAMI runs down it.

Nuffy's notes

Find a word, find out what it means

Each word you get comes with a one-line note: what a snick is, how a nick differs, who a name belongs to. When the grid is done, the level-clear screen lists the notes for every word in it, so you can read back over the ones you guessed.

Clear a level without a single wrong word and you get the Flawless bonus on top.

The Flawless level-clear screen: A snick Nuffy joined your ground. Notes for SNICK, NICK and SKIP, then Runs for the level clear, Flawless and word combo, totalling 17.

Nuffy Quiz

Ten questions. Think you'll get all ten?

The quiz draws from 407 questions across the laws of the game, World Cup finals, records, grounds, nicknames and the franchise leagues. Each answer, right or wrong, comes with a line on why, so a miss still teaches you something for next time.

  • Runs for right answers. A perfect ten pays a bonus.
  • A rank to climb. Your lifetime score takes you up the ladder from Tail-ender to Legend.
  • Spotted a wrong answer? Email us the question and a source. We check every report.
Nuffy Quiz, question 3 of 10: Who has taken the most Test wickets for India? Anil Kumble is marked correct, with a note that he took 619 wickets in 132 Tests.

Your ground

From the nets to the Long Room

Every level you clear brings a Nuffy to your ground and lights another block of the stands. Twenty levels pack the ground out and the next one opens on the map. The 25 grounds run from a village green to Lord's, by way of the Men in Blue, the Baggy Green, the Ashes, the Caribbean, the subcontinent and franchise night cricket.

A puzzle each day

A streak that doesn't punish you for a day off

The daily puzzle pays out Runs and a rare golden Nuffy for your album. Come back each day to build a streak. Miss a day for a match, a wedding or a long weekend and the streak pauses where it was. It doesn't drop back to zero.

All of it works offline. There's no account to make, and your progress, Runs and Nuffies are saved on your phone.
